International Academy of Podiatric Medical Educators (IAPME)

Responsible for disseminating information about podiatry education and practice around the world, especially within the member organisation countries. This includes promoting life-long learning, raising and harmonizing academic and professional standards, and mutual recognition of qualifications. The committee also organizes an Academy/ Consensus Conference in association with the World Congress of Podiatry.

Chet Evans DPM served as the first Committee Chair and Academy President. When Dr Evans stepped down in 2010, Dr Vince Hetherington, the Vice Dean of Kent State School of Podiatric Medicine stepped into the role.

We welcome Vince Hetherington D.P.M. as the new Committee Chair and President of the Academy. Dr Hetherington went on to oversee the scientific program at the FIP World Congress of Podiatry in Rome , Italy in 2013 and will do the same at the FIP World Congress of Podiatry in Montreal, Canada in 2016.
