The theme “Show Me the Evidence” has become more appropriate; with funders, policy makers and curriculums demanding and driving evidence-based best practice, and patients becoming more astute in their demand for key health decisions that affect their well-being.

PASA is hugely excited to introduce Professor David Armstrong as the keynote speaker.  Prof Armstrong will certainly fit the theme with over 480 peer reviewed articles and over 80 book chapters. Prof Armstrong is an internationally renowned Podiatrist whose expertise and knowledge crosses medical disciplines in a manner that guides the prevention, management and salvage of the lower limb and diabetic foot, irrespective of the discipline you practice.

The role of PASA in the diabetic foot and its management cannot be emphasized enough – offering leadership, care co-ordination and an inimitable role in the prevention and remission of costly, burdensome and deadly complications of this global pandemic.

With that in mind, it was decided to open the Congress to all disciplines that are involved in the management of the diabetic foot and PASA is looking forward to a multidisciplinary Congress with a focus on the diabetic foot.

After a successful edition in 2018 with more than 250 participants and 11 booths from exhibitors, the Belgian Association of Podiatrists is once again organising a congress not to be missed. National and international speakers are invited to highlight new techniques.

This year, the congress will be the focus of particular attention, as the Belgian association celebrates its 60th anniversary.

The central theme for this edition of the Belgian National Congress of Podiatry is pressure. The pressure will be examined in all its aspects, from plantar pressure and pressure measurement to pressure reduction and pressure distribution. All aspects of podiatry will therefore be addressed with a balance between biomechanics and treatment.

In addition, particular attention will be paid to the pressure of the society to health workers. The topic of burnout among independent caregivers will also be discussed at the congress.
